If an asset has lost its Asset Tag or the Asset Tag has become unreadable it may need to be retagged. This is generally done by confirming the Serial Number of the asset however any other methods that allow you to identify the original Asset Tag Number of the asset are also acceptable.
Sometimes a Serial Number cannot be read or was not included in the original asset information record. When this happens the asset that is missing the barcode sticker should be entered into the system as an addition with a new Asset Tag Number and the old asset will ultimately be archived out of the system when it fails to be verified at the next annual inventory audit.
1) First navigate to the List All view using the menu on the left side of your screen.
2) Enter the Serial Number of the asset into the search bar within the List All screen.
3) If the Serial Number is recognized then the asset will appear on your screen. If no Serial Number is found, double check that the number you entered is correct (sometimes a zero looks like a “O” for example). If the asset still does not show up then the original asset may not have had its Serial Number put into the system. If you are not able to find a match via Serial Number or other method, please enter the asset into the system with a new Asset Tag Number following typical procedures: Add New Asset.
If the Serial Number provides a match click on the Asset Tag Number.
4) Click the Pencil icon button to Edit the asset.
5) Take note of the old Asset Tag number.
6) Input the new Asset Tag number. In the Notes section put “Re-tagged, Old Asset Tag: [old tag number here]”. The press Save.
7) To see the record log of the change, on the Asset Info page click on “History”.
8) Here you will see a record of the changed Asset Tag number.
